Belarus should host Russia-Ukraine peace talks - Lukashenko

MINSK. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Belarus should host Russia-Ukraine peace talks, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.

"Why in Belarus? Because this is happening next to our fence, next to our border. Our interests have to be observed. We want our interests not to be infringed when they make an agreement on Ukraine," the Belarusian state-run news agency BelTA quoted Lukashenko as telling students in Minsk on Friday.

The three Slavic nations would come to an agreement without outside interference, he said. "Neither Americans, nor Europeans, nor anyone else will do us any good or help us. We must sit down and reach an agreement," Lukashenko said.
