MINSK. Dec 23 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Armed Forces have commissioned 15 new portable electronic warfare (EW) systems this year, head of the Belarusian Armed Forces' EW Department Alexander Nogovitsin said.
"This year alone, 15 new portable EW systems have been developed and adopted for regular troops in trenches to detect and jam unmanned aerial vehicles of various types," Nogovitsin said on the Belarus 1 television channel on Sunday.
"Such electronic countermeasure systems are being actively supplied to forces in the necessary amounts. They are not inferior or even better than foreign analogues by certain performance characteristics," he said.
The Belarusian Armed Forces has EW systems capable of jamming hostile systems several hundreds of kilometers away and of protecting critical facilities, Nogovitsin said.
He said EW systems have been deployed on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border among other places. They are running 24/7 to conduct radio monitoring and analyze the situation on the Belarusian and neighboring territories, Nogovitsin said.
"EW units stationed at the border are ready to jam radio-electronic systems for preventing various sorts of provocations, including those by drones," he said.
The experience of the Russian special military operation proves that EW systems are the most effective against drones in combination with tactical air defense.
