Russian Baltic Fleet ships preparing for training missions

MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Over 30 ships and vessels of the Russian Baltic Fleet are completing scheduled drills at bases in Baltiysk and Kronstadt, the fleet press service said on Thursday.

"Baltic Fleet ships will soon be deployed to fleet ranges to perform training missions with shipborne weapons in various tactical environments," the press service said.

Base drills involve over 30 corvettes, missile ships and boats, landing craft, anti-submarine warfare corvettes, minesweepers, patrol ships and anti-sabotage boats, it said.

"The crews have practiced preparations for deployment, damage control at the pier, and anti-sabotage defense at bases. The training also included daily routine, weapon maintenance, and ammo loading on ships," the press service said.
