SUKHUM. Jan 10 (Interfax) - The Abkhaz Central Elections Commission (CEC) has registered acting President Badra Gunba as a presidential candidate, CEC member Alyas Brandzia told the press.
The CEC decided at a meeting on Friday to register leader of the opposition Abkhaz People's Movement Adgur Ardzinba, former Abkhaz trade representative to Russia Oleg Bartsits, and former Control Chamber chair Robert Arshba as presidential candidates, he said.
Signatures submitted by the campaign of Adgur Khurkhumal are still being verified.
The early presidential election will take place in Abkhazia on February 15.
Experts believe that acting President Gunba and opposition co-leader Adgur Ardzinba will be the main rivals in the election.
