Peskov: Too early to talk about guarantees of Russia's security in context of Ukraine settlement

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - While guarantees of Russia's security are an integral element of a Ukraine crisis settlement process, there are currently no prerequisites for negotiations, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Monday.

"This issue is an integral element of the Ukraine conflict settlement, it's one of the elements of this general subject," Peskov said when asked whether guarantees of Russia's security are still on the table.

"But since there are no prerequisites for resuming negotiations at the moment, as the Ukrainian side has been rejecting this, it's too early to talk about this," Peskov said.

"As for preparedness for contacts, President Putin has said repeatedly that we're open and prepared for contacts with all parties, including the U.S.," he said.
