Spanish journalist suspected of illegally crossing Russian border - Russian Investigative Committee

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Alberto Rojas, a journalist with the Spanish media outlet El Mundo, is suspected in absentia of illegally crossing the Russian state border with Ukrainian troops, the Russian Investigative Committee said.

"A criminal case has been opened against Alberto Rojas, a journalist with the Spanish media outlet El Mundo, who is suspected of illegally crossing the state border of the Russian Federation," the Investigative Committee said on a Telegram channel on Wednesday.

"Rojas, who had no documents permitting him to enter the territory of the Russian Federation, illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation in the company of Ukrainian servicemen and further stayed in the Sudzha district of the Kursk region," the committee said.

"Investigators are taking measures to determine Rojas' location and detain him. All circumstances of the crime committed by Rojas will be established and his actions will be assessed from the point of view of criminal law during the investigation into the criminal case," the Investigative Committee said.
