Macron: Kiev understands impossibility to regain lost territories

PARIS. May 14 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian leadership does not rule out the renouncement of territories lost in the conflict with Russia at the end of peace talks, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with TF1 on Tuesday evening.

Even the Ukrainians have "enough clarity to say" they will be unable to regain the territories lost in the conflict, he said.

Macron added that he did not want the situation to develop into a world war.

"We do not want to start the third world conflict," Macron said.

The intended role of European troops in Ukraine is not to be on the line of contact between the two countries, he said.
