Turkish FM's meeting with Russian delegation at Ukraine talks begins

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is meeting with the Russian delegation in Istanbul at Ukraine talks.

"Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's meeting with the Russian delegation has begun in Istanbul," Turkish media reported.

An informed source earlier told Interfax that the Russian delegation sent to Istanbul for Ukraine talks is scheduled to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan at the Dolmabahce Palace compound on Thursday evening.

In particular, Russian-Ukrainian negotiations are expected to be discussed at the meeting. As the news agency's source said earlier, the talks scheduled for Thursday are expected to take place as early as Friday, May 16.

A Russian delegation led by Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky arrived in Istanbul earlier.

Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested last Sunday that the direct talks suspended in 2022 be resumed in Istanbul on May 15 without preconditions.
