EU imposes restrictions on 189 ships as part of 17th package of anti-Russian sanctions

BRUSSELS. May 20 (Interfax) - The 17th package of EU sanctions includes 189 ships from third countries the EU links to Russia and prohibits from accessing ports and receiving a broad range of services, consistent with a Council of the European Union resolution adopted on Tuesday.

"In this 17th package, we include [...] almost 200 vessels in Russia's shadow fleet. [...] Russia's actions and those who enable Russia face severe consequences," EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said, as she commented on the resolution.

This is "bringing the total of designated vessels to 342," the Council of the EU said in a press release.
