MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has endorsed a new national space project, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov said.
"We presented a new edition of the national project for the first time at a strategic session hosted by the prime minister on May 20, and we had it endorsed by the president the week before last," Bakanov said at a meeting of the Federation Council's Economic Policy Committee on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said earlier that Russia would earmark 4.4 trillion rubles on space projects over the period up to 2036.
New initiatives in this area will be launched starting in 2026, after they are finalized and endorsed by the president, Mishustin said.
On June 3, Bakanov said the Finance Ministry had approved 4.5 trillion rubles in financing for the national space project.
