GROZNY. April 8 (Interfax-AVN) - An explosion caused shrapnel wounds to two policemen in downtown Grozny early on Friday, Chechen Interior Ministry press secretary Ruslan Atsayev told Interfax.
A landmine went off while a car carrying policemen from the Grozny rurak district police office was passing by on Pervomaiskaya Street at 10:05 a.m. Moscow time (0605 GMT), he said.
The explosion did not kill anyone only because the car was moving at high speed, Atsayev said.
"The explosion was fractions of a second late, and this spared the policemen's lives," he said.
The wounded policemen were given medical aid at the scene and their lives are not in danger, Atsayev said.
