Russian Navy Commander inspects Northern Fleet

SEVEROMORSK. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Admiral of the Fleet Vladimir Kuroyedov, the Russian Navy Commander, is inspecting the units of the Northern Fleet.

A spokesman for the Northern Fleet Staff told Interfax-Military News Agency that the inspection is organized instead of the earlier-announced command post exercise. It will start Monday and finish Sunday.

Kuroyedov arrived at the main headquarters of the Northern Fleet in Severomorsk on April 9.

"The main idea of the inspection is to sum up the results of the winter term of training and assess the combat readiness of the forces," the spokesman said.

According to him, the main focus will be laid on inspecting the military administration officers' knowledge of legal documents, manuals and regulations. Officers of the Northern Fleet Staff and staffs of divisions subordinate to it will have to stand this examination.

The active phase of the exercise will be organized in accordance with special instructions by the Navy Commander. "It is not known now which ship or submarine or aircraft will be involved in practical operation. The Commander will make this decision following the results of the theoretical inspection of combat and mobilization readiness of the personnel," the spokesman said.

He added that the forces of the fleet are ready to face any challenge and accomplish any mission to be assigned.
