KHANKALA. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The police have detained four militants in Chechnya, Major General Ilya Shabalkin, a spokesman for the regional headquarters for the anti-terrorist campaign in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Shabalkin said a member of the Timur Abubakarov group in direct subordination to Shamil Basayev was apprehended in Grozny.
"There is evidence that the detained militant has committed a series of grave crimes. He killed and robbed Shakhid Akhmadov on the outskirts of Achkhoi-Martan in May 2004," Shabalkin said.
A member of the Arbi Satayev group was detained in Grozny. A loaded Tokarev pistol was confiscated from him. The detained man was wanted for several crimes. Satayev is also wanted.
Another militant was detained in the town of Starye Atagi in the Grozny district for crimes against policemen and civilians, Shabalkin said.
Also, a 20-year-old member of a terrorism network was detained in the Beltagoi village of the Shali district who had been wanted for a series of crimes, an official of the temporary press center of the Russian Interior Ministry in the North Caucasus told Interfax-AVN.
