Foreign experts to help Georgian border guards to specify development prospects

TBILISI. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - A two-day conference on the prospects of the development of the Georgian Interior Ministry's Border Guard Department, opened in Tbilisi Monday, an official of the department's press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The conference is organized with the assistance of the German government and financial support of the international Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF)," he said.

The forum is participated in by heads of border guard agencies of Germany, Austria, Finland, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Estonia and experts from some other countries.

The conference will see the participation of representatives of the DCAF, the international council of advisors on border security, international committee on migration policy development, the International Organization for Migration, the program of border guard control, and the U.S. program of border protection and law enforcement.

"The Georgian side will share its views on the development of its border guard department and on the role of foreign experts in this development," the official said.
