MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Adoption of the law, establishing the honorary title "City of the Military Glory" will allow services of many Russian towns to be distinguished on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the Victory Day, Andrei Kokoshin, Chairman of the State Duma CIS Affairs Committee, said.
"The adoption of the law will allow us to distinguish services of tows, which saw the most fierce battles during the Great Patriotic War," Kokoshin, former secretary of the Russian Security Council, and co-author of the bill, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The bill was approved by the State Duma last week. Now it has to be adopted by the Federation Council.
According to Kokoshin, introduction of the title will distinguish towns, which have not been awarded the title of the "Hero City" before. Kokoshin said that it held true for such towns as Elnya, Vyazma, Rzhev, Luga, Tikhvin, Mozhaysk, etc.
