KHANKALA/GROZNY. April 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Law enforcement officials in the Vedeno district of Chechnya prevented an explosion of a hand-made bomb, a spokesman for the Combined Federal Force headquarters in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency Friday.
The bomb was made of an 82-mm mortar round and a 200-g TNT cartridge. It was found at a subsidiary road near the Eshilkhatoi village on Wednesday and destroyed by blasting.
Policemen and Interior Ministry Forces servicemen also found a cache in the forest near Oiskhara, a village in the Gudermes district, on Tuesday. The cache held four RPG-18 rocket launchers, two RPG-26 rocket launchers, two artillery rounds, 10 anti-personnel mines, 27 rockets for the launchers, 2 kg of TNT and over 3,000 7.62-mm rounds.
According to the spokesman, a total of six rocket launchers, a hunting gun and a sawn off gun, three artillery rounds, 55 mines, 35 rockets for rocket launchers, two grenades, over 3,000 rounds of various caliber, 2.8 kg of explosives were seized in Chechnya on Thursday. Also, two bombs were destroyed.
The republic's law enforcement told Interfax-AVN that a local came to the duty service of the Nozhai-Yurt regional police department on Thursday and said that he had seen unknown camouflaged men stop a car with a school teacher near the Benoi village and took him along with their UAZ vehicle.
