TBILISI. April 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian Parliamentary Speaker Nino Burjanadze thinks that a report recently published by the U.S. Department of State on terrorist threats "does not say anything alarming about Georgia."
The report states that international terrorists are still using the Pankisi Gorge to get to Chechnya, but this is happening less and less frequently and the U.S. and other countries are helping Georgia in the fight against terrorism.
"A place that terrorists can use can be found anywhere on Earth, like it happened in the U.S. on September 11," Burjanadze told journalists on Thursday.
"It is not surprising that we cannot have full control over the situation in a mountainous region like the Pankisi gorge, but the Department of State report says that the number of cases of terrorists infiltrating the gorge has reduced to a minimum," Burjanadze said.
