VLASIKHA, Moscow Region. May 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Nine combat missile systems whose service lives have expired will be written off from the Russian Strategic Missile Forces in 2005, the press service of the forces said on Thursday.
Eight missile systems were written off in 2004, including four stationary and four mobile systems, a press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Five missile armament scrapping bases have been established to dispose of written-off missile systems, he said.
According to the press service, 18 silo-based launchers have been put on long-term storage since 2003. They may be upgraded and used in creating new combat missile systems.
