Kadyrov's murder was ordered outside Chechnya – State Council chairman

GROZNY. May 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Forces that have more influence than warlord Shamil Basayev ordered and paid for the murder of Chechnya's first president Akhmad Kadyrov, Chechen State Council Chairman Taus Dzhabrailov said in Grozny on Thursday.

"Basayev is nothing but a mercenary, who fulfills the will of his masters for huge sums of money," he said.

"I am positive that Basayev ranks at the top of the list of the organizers of the May 9, 2004, terrorist act at Grozny's Dynamo stadium," he said.

"The forces that planned and unleashed the military conflict in the North Caucasus, with the purpose of shattering the state of Russia, were most of all interested in the death of Kadyrov," he said.

"Kadyrov accomplished the formation of Russia on its southern boundaries, he resolved the problem of separatism de facto and de jure, he gave a final answer to the question of the place of Chechnya in Russia, and he did what other people had failed to do for the previous 400 years," Dzhabrailov said. "So forces that have more influence than the average illegal armed units in Chechnya were against him."

Basayev "has never been guided by ideas. He has been fulfilling the will of people who paid him and could give him orders," Dzhabrailov said.

"The main think-tanks and financiers of these forces are stationed abroad, but they have people who conduct their ideas in Russia," he said.
