Minimum of 4 years needed to pull Russian bases out of Georgia – official

ROSTOV-ON-DON. May 12 (Interfax-AVN) - A minimum of four years would be needed to withdraw Russian bases from Georgia, Army General Alexander Baranov, commander of the North Caucasus Military District, told reporters on Thursday.

"If everything is done in a calm, normal and civilized atmosphere, at least 4-4.5 years will be needed," Baranov said.

"We (the command of the North Caucasus military district - Interfax) have no idea what plan for the bases' withdrawal the Georgian leaders are talking about, but it sounds more like a fairy tale," the general said.
