Strategic Missile Forces aviation transports over 1,300 people in six months

MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The Strategic Missile Forces aviation has transported 120 tonnes of cargo and over 1,300 people in the past six months, the aviation service said at the Strategic Missile Forces Staff, when summing up results of air support provided to troops in the winter combat training period.

The Strategic Missile Forces press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency that an average flying time per crew amounted to 18 hours, while the overall flying time totaled 1,300 hours.

In compliance with the results of skill improving exercises, conducted in January and February, a flight crew commander has become a sniper pilot, and another five pilots have become first-class pilots.

The Strategic Missile Forces aviation operates Antonov An-72, An-26, and An-12 aircraft, as well as Mil Mi-8 and Mi-8MT helicopters, the press-service said.
