Russia to finish removing bases from Georgia in 2008 - Lavrov

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will finish removing its military bases from Georgia in 2008, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"The final phase of the pullout will take place in 2008," he told a Monday news conference in Moscow after negotiations with Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili.

Lavrov said they made a joint statement, which indicates main phases of the Russian military bases' pullout.

"At first, we will withdraw the base from Akhalkalaki and then from Batumi," he said.
