OMSK. June 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The Novosibirsk instrument building plant showed its new-generation day and night observation devices at the VTTV Omsk 2005 international land forces' arms exhibition.
"We are demonstrating new-generation land forces observation, reconnaissance and target designation devices at this show in Omsk, both mass-produced and experimental ones that are currently undergoing plant and field test," Sergei Maslikov, head of the plant's public relations section, told Interfax-Military News Agency Friday.
He noted that the PN-11K binocular, day and night capable 1-PN-100 and 1-PN-114 sights, other sights for mortars, rocket launchers and artillery systems, combined observation and sighting devises for armored vehicles, and observation devices for commanding officers are among the new products demonstrated.
"Our 1-PN-100 and 1-PN-114 are now in tests and will be adopted for service with the Russian Armed Forces and other uniformed agencies," he said.
The former is likely to equip the Kalashnikov and Nikonov assault rifles of all types and modifications, while the latter will mount the SVD sniper rifles.
"These devices will replace two sights (day and night ones) as they are two-in-one. Both of them provide three-time magnification, which allows them to detect enemy manpower in total darkness at ranges up to 450 m," Maslikov said.
The sights weigh 1.7 kilos and operate 10 hours using an organic battery.
Maslikov added that they feature high-performance electro-optical transformers and automatic flash protection.
Among other promising products offered to foreign clients is the 1-PN-113 night sight capable of detecting a human-target at 500m. "The sight is mounted on top of the weapon and is compatible with NATO standard arms," he said.
According to him, the plant has already got clients wishing to acquire the sights.
The Novosibirsk plant is a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of land forces observation, reconnaissance and target designation devices used in the Russian Armed Forces and armies of other countries. All its products are developed under the supervision of the Defense Ministry.
