CSTO Secretary General to discuss Collective Security Council agenda with Armenian President

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Nikolai Bordyuzha, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), will discuss the agenda of the upcoming Collective Security Council meeting with Armenian President Robert Kocharian in the course of his visit to Armenia, which started on Tuesday, the CSTO Secretariat press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"In addition to that Nikolai Bordyuzha is to meet with the Armenian defense minister, who is also secretary of the Armenian security council," the press-service said.

"Armenia is one of the most active CSTO member-states, who efficiently works on all directions of the CSTO activities," Bordyuzha emphasized before leaving for Yerevan.

According to him, the Russian-Armenian coalition task force constitutes the backbone of the CSTO forces. Armenia is also active in countering new threats and challenges, including the comprehensive Kanal anti-drug operation, and conducting informational warfare against terror and drug-trafficking.

Bordyuzha is on a three-day visit to Armenia. The press-service noted that the CSTO Secretary General had already met with senior brass and politicians in Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan in light of the upcoming session of the Collective Security Council (CSC) and meetings of CSTO bodies.

The CSC session is to be conducted in Moscow on June 22-23. CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
