Ukraine, Tajikistan to scale up military cooperation

KYIV. June 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The defense ministers of Ukraine and Tajikistan have agreed to scale up bilateral military cooperation, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"Ukrainian Defense Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko held negotiations with his Tajik counterpart Sherali Khairulloyev in the framework of the CIS Defense Ministers Council session in Dushanbe on Friday. Summing up results of the talks, they signed an agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the military sphere," a press service official said.

In particular, the ministers agreed to scale up cooperation in international security and defense policy, development and reform of the armed forces, science and education, military legislation and military medicine, he noted.

After the negotiations, Hrytsenko invited Tajik Armed Forces representatives to take part in multinational peacekeeping exercises held on Ukrainian territory.
