MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Ninety-eight Russian Armed Forces servicemen were killed in June as a result of crimes and incidents, bringing the number of servicemen's deaths caused by crimes and incidents to 445 since the beginning of the year, the Defense Ministry said on its website.
Two servicemen were killed and another two went missing in the North Caucasus republic of Chechnya last month, the ministry said. It earlier reported that over 3,400 of its servicemen were killed and 29 went missing since the beginning of the anti-guerilla operation in the North Caucasus in 1999.
The website says that 1,250 crimes and incidents were registered in the Armed Forces in June, while the figure was at 1,457 in May. The total number of crimes and incidents registered in the Armed Forces this year is as high as 7,445.
Two people were killed as a result of hazing in June and 10 since the beginning of the year. The highest death toll was caused by violations of traffic and vehicle operation rules. It stood at 31 people in June and at 119 since the beginning of the year.
As many as 25 suicides were registered among Armed Forces servicemen in June. This year's total number of suicides is as high as 126.
Accidents killed 29 servicemen in June and a total of 112 servicemen since the beginning of the year.
