Attempt made on Ingush PM’s life – source (Part 2)

NAZRAN. Aug 25 (Interfax-AVN) - An attempt has been made on the life of Ingushetia's Prime Minister Ibragim Malsagov, an Ingush law enforcement source said.

Preliminary reports suggest that Malsagov was wounded and taken to a hospital.

The prime minister's motorcade reportedly hit a mine near a market in Nazran's Oltiyevo residential area.

Malsagov's bodyguard and several passers-by suffered injuries.

A spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry Southern Regional Center confirmed the assassination attempt against Malsagov.

Sources at the reception ward of the republic's central hospital told Interfax that "Prime Minister I. Malsagov was admitted with shell fragment wounds in his right wrist and lower leg, but his life is not in danger."

Two other victims of the blast were admitted along with Malsagov, one of them died of wounds.

"Malsagov received medical treatment, he is conscious and nothing threatens his health," a senior Ingush law enforcement official told Interfax.

The attack against Malsagov took place on Thursday as he was driving home, he said.

"Actually, there were two explosions. One, with a minor clap, was supposed to divert attention. The terrorists pinned their hopes on the second explosion," the official said.

One of Malsagov's body guards was killed in the blast, the official said.
