China denies developing bacteriological weapons

BEIJING. Sept 1 (Interfax-AVN) - China is displeased with U.S. State Department allegations that China is continuing to develop bacteriological weapons.

"These are irresponsible statements. We are expressing our serious displeasure and hope that the U.S. will stop such erroneous actions," Director of the Chinese Foreign Ministry's Arms Control and Disarmament Department Zhang Yan told a news conference in Beijing on Thursday.

"The U.S. disregards China's efforts and progress accomplished in the arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation spheres," the Chinese diplomat said.
