BEIJING. Nov 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Disagreements still remain between the delegations taking part in the six-sided talks on the North Korean nuclear problem, head of the Russian delegation, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alekseyev told Russian journalists on Thursday.
"The positions of the U.S. and North Korea remain unchanged," Alekseyev said, after the second day of negotiations.
"The parties, specifically North Korea and the U.S. have different views on how the joint statement signed at the third round of negotiations is to be carried out," Alekseyev said.
The U.S. continues to insist that "all of North Korea's nuclear programs be abandoned before the question of giving North Korea a light water reactor is discussed," Alekseyev said.
"Pyongyang believes this order of events is not embodied in the joint statement," Alekseyev said.
The North Korean delegation raised a new issue for discussion, saying that measures aimed against the Korean bank in Macao taken by the U.S. do not correspond with the spirit of the negotiations.
"The North Korean delegation believes these actions are a step away from the principles of strengthening bilateral relations and contacts," Alekseyev said.
