Foreign military infrastructure around Russia a threat

MOSCOW. Nov 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Foreign military bases, being deployed near Russian borders, pose a potential threat to Russia, Nikolai Bordyuzha, Director General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said at a meeting of the round table in Moscow on Friday.

"Military infrastructure, established around Russia, including specific military bases, poses a threat to the country," Bordyuzha said.

However, he emphasized that they would only pose a military threat, if it was necessary to apply political or military pressure on the country in order to achieve specific political goals.

Bordyuzha pointed out that there were no preconditions for large-scale military conflicts in the CSTO area of responsibility.

He called military bases part of the military infrastructure, which might be employed to suppress military, economic, and informational sites in a specific region when conducting specific operations.
