MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ural automobile plant is ready to offer the Ural-4320 automobile with an additional protection set to uniformed agencies, the plant's press service reported on Monday.
"By appearance and design, the truck is a typical cross-country vehicle with a 6x6 wheel formula made by the Ural plant. But in fact, it carries powerful hidden armor," the report reads.
The truck is derived from the Ural-4320-31 multi-role vehicle by installing protective devices and components in the cabin, engine section and platform. Unlike protection types manufactured by other enterprises, Ural's protection is hard to detect for the enemy, which is important in the first moments of an engagement.
"The factor is positive for saving the lives and health of military unit personnel, which renders the truck additional unique advantages during its use in trouble spots or in combat," the report reads.
The new armored truck is likely to be ordered by the Interior Ministry, Interior Ministry Forces, and other Russian uniformed agencies.
Anti-bullet protection is built in the truck's rear and side walls, doors and roof. Glasses are bulletproof. Armor is also installed under the hood to protect the engine is protected from the upside and right and left sides. A protection screen is mounted in front of the heat radiator. An independent cabin heater is also envisaged.
The automobile platform is fitted with anti-bullet protection 1,400 mm high from the platform floor level. It has nine loopholes for small-arms fire. The loopholes have covers that are easy to close. The bottom of the platform is protected from fragments and high-explosive hand grenades by armor plates. The vehicle's fuel tank is fully protected from small-arms bullets and high-explosive hand grenades.
"Regardless of all the changes, the Ural automobile retained its traditional advantages such as advanced cross-country capability and reliability," the report reads.
