Russian missile test hits target

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Topol intercontinental ballistic missile launched from the Plesetsk launch pad as part of a Tuesday test has hit its designated target at the Kura testing ground in Kamchatka, Space Forces spokesman Colonel Alexei Kuznetsov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The missile's flight trajectory was monitored by the Space Forces through missile attack warning systems and space control systems, as well as a ground-based command center," Kuznetsov said.

The Topol missile, which was delivered to the army 20 years ago, was launched to check the flight and operational capabilities of the Topol mobile missile launcher, whose service life has been extended.

Up to 500 intercontinental ballistic missiles have been launched from the Plesetsk launch pad and 11 missile systems have been tested there for the Strategic Missile Forces since the facility was built.
