CIS defense ministers to discuss military cooperation prospects

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Defense ministers of the CIS member states will discuss interaction prospects in the military sphere at a session in Moscow on Wednesday, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The ministers will consider the draft agreement on social and legal guarantees for personnel of the collective peacekeeping forces in the CIS, the spokesman said.

According to him, the session will also address rules of investigating air incidents and crashes involving military aircraft of the CIS member states, information backing of military cooperation, problems in inter-state cataloguing of Armed Forces supply items and funding mechanisms.

The parties are expected to consider organizational and personnel issues, including those connected to amendments to the Statute of the CIS Chiefs-of-Staff Committee, work results and work plans of the Defense Ministers Council's working bodies, and the plan of joint events of the Unified Air Defense System.

The session will be hosted by the General Staff Academy.
