"As of today, 539 enterprises have given their consent to take part in the MVSV 2006 show," which will last from August 2 to 6, he noted. These enterprises include the Tula instrument engineering design bureau, the Splav state-owned research and production enterprise, and the Kolomna-based machine-building design bureau.
The show is expected to involve over 800 companies, Marichev went on. The show and the aerobatics team festival, which will be held simultaneously at facilities of the Gromov Flight Research Institute, will be visited by over 400,000 people.
Real samples of armaments and military hardware will be exhibited at an open-air pad. Such foreign countries as Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Greece and Slovakia will set pavilions at the show.
Igor Novikov, director general of the Aviasalov JSO, said at the presentation, "This will be an armaments parade and an air show." In particular, participants in the event will observe practical landing of an airborne fighting vehicle from an Il-76 plane. The flight program includes performances of both Russian and foreign pilots, including those from Italy and France.
"But there will be no aerobatics teams, just combat demonstrator planes," Novikov stressed.
Lieutenant General Yury Kovalenko, chief-of-staff and first deputy chief of the Defense Ministry's ordnance directorate, said at the presentation that in addition to the arms show and aerobatics team festival, the Gromov Institute will host a research and practical conference and an automobile demonstration. The latter event will involve over 100 companies. As many as 110 automobiles will be exhibited statically, and 30 automobiles on the move. The focus will be made on the demonstration of multi-role army vehicles, which account for 90 percent of the Defense Ministry's automobile fleet.
