MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov and Ukrainian Defense Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko have signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in promoting the safety of flights by civilian aircraft and a cooperation plan between the two countries' defense ministries for 2006.
Ivanov told the press following the signing ceremony after the two ministers held negotiations in Moscow on Tuesday that he and Hrytsenko had discussed aspects of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation at the talks.
Two committees on military and military-technical cooperation will be set up within a sub-commission for military security, which the Ukrainian and Russian presidents earlier decided to establish, Ivanov said. "We have decided who will head these committees," Ivanov said.
The Russian and Ukrainian Defense Ministries will exchange experiences, in particular, with regards to the manning of military units with contracted servicemen, Ivanov said. "The plan envisions visits by Ukrainian Defense Ministry officials to Russian units fully manned by contracted servicemen," he said.
The two ministers also discussed issues related to the disposal of ammunition, weapons, and military hardware, Ivanov said. "Russian military experts dealing with these issues will travel to Kyiv in December," he said.
