MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ekaterinburg-based Urals Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMZ) and the Malaysian Mattra Company have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of providing after-sales services to avionics, mounted on MiG-29 fighters in service with the RMAF, the UOMZ press-service said.
According to it, the agreement spans a period of time until 2010. The Russian-Malaysian ATSC joint venture, established to provide maintenance to MiG-29s, is another signatory to the agreement.
Within the framework of the agreement, the sides have adopted the timeframe for maintaining optronic aircraft radars, manufactured by UOMZ and mounted on RMAF aircraft, the press-service said.
According to the press-service, at the LIMA 2005 international arms show just over in Langkawi UOMZ discussed another stage of cooperation aimed at establishing a service center in Malaysia in order to maintain optronics, fitted on MiG-29s and Su-30MKMs.
UOMZ officials also conducted negotiations with the Sudanese and the Bahraini Air Force commanders-in-chief.
UOMZ displayed civil optical surveillance systems at the Malaysian arms show. Such systems were demonstrated to experts from Singapore and Bahrain.
The Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant specializes in manufacturing gyro-stabilized optronics, sighs for military aircraft, high precision geological survey equipment, medical equipment, as well as consumer goods. The enterprise exports its products to 35 foreign states in Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
