Interior Ministry Forces to hold large-scale maneuvers in 2006 – Commander

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Interior Ministry Forces will hold a number of large-scale exercises, trainings and maneuvers separately and jointly with the Armed Forces in 2006, Colonel General Nikolai Rogozhkin, the force commander, told Interfax-Military News Agency Wednesday.

"Under the plan, the 2006 will see large scale command-post exercises with Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev in charge, as well as Interior Ministry training under the supervision of the Interior Ministry Forces Commander. Also, all military districts will organize maneuvers and annual periodical trainings at the base of one of larger elements of the Interior Ministry Forces," he said.

He emphasized that the Interior Ministry Forces will take part in a joint CPX with the Armed Forces in 2006.

He pointed out that special motorized units, engaged in protection of critical governmental installations within the Russian territory would also take part in the maneuvers jointly with the Interior Ministry Forces.

"Here I primarily mean the special tactics exercises of the Vikhr-Antiterror type, during which we will refine tactics of protecting key governmental facilities and special and military cargoes," he said.
