TBILISI. Feb 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The Georgian Foreign Ministry has said it regrets that the Russian side has postponed an agreed-upon visit by Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli to Moscow.
"While Georgian-Russian relations are not the best there is an urgent need for dialogue for settling conflicts and discussing bilateral relations and every chance should be taken to hold talks and consultations in order to relieve the existing tension," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday evening.
The postponement of Nogaideli's visit to Moscow "obstructs the search for a way out of the difficult situation," it said.
The Russian government's press service officially confirmed the postponement of the Georgian prime minister's visit on Tuesday.
Nogaideli told journalists in Tbilisi at the end of last week that he planned to pay a working visit to Moscow in late February.
