MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Most of the spaceships to be launched as part of the Russian Defense Ministry's missions will blast off from the Plesetsk center in the Arkhangelsk region, Russian Space Force Commander Colonel General Vladimir Popovkin said.
"Plesetsk will mark its 50th anniversary in about two years. It has witnessed the largest number of space launches than any other launch pad in the world. It has been given a special role in the development of Russian space programs," the Space Force's press service quoted Popovkin as saying.
"In the future, Plesetsk will become the main launch pad for the majority of spaceships built to ensure the country's defense and security," he said.
