MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax-AVN) - A total of 757,000 rubles ($27,000) of aid will be granted to the Izhmash Consortium by the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader for acquisition of the most cutting-edge KIPSTAR 2052 digital document circulation system.
"The documents thereof were handed over by Nikolai Shvets, assistant to Rosoboronexport's director general, to the consortium's Director General Vladimir Gorodetsky, who is also chairman of the trustee board of the Firearm Development Foundation, during the ceremony held at the Kalashnikov small-arms exhibition center in Izhevsk on Monday," the Rosoboronexpor press service said in a release.
"The digital system will step up the development of new products and improve the quality of design documentation of firearms," Mikhail Kalashnikov, president of the Russian Armorers Union, is quoted as saying.
According to the press service, 2006 will mark the tenth anniversary since the general partnership agreement was signed between the government of the Russian Republic of Udmurtia and Rosoboronexport.
"The Republic of Udmurtia ranks thirds in Russia in output of defense products and also tops the list where the defense industry contribution in the total output of the republic is concerned. Izhevsk has deserved its reputation of the world capital of gun-makers, while Kalashnikov is the most famous brand in the world," reads the release. It is also noted that Mikhail Kalashnikov has been an advisor to Rosoboronexport's director general for a decade now.
