ROSTOV-ON-DON. April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Lieutenant General Anatoly Khrulev has been appointed commander of the 58th Army stationed in North Ossetia. The army has its headquarters in Vladikavkaz.
Army Genera; Alexander Baranov, North Caucasus military district commander, introduced the new commander to the officers of the 58th Army on Monday, the district's press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Khrulev was born in the town of Naro-Fominsk in the Moscow region in 1955. He graduated from the Tashkent Higher Tank Command College in 1976, Armored Forces Academy in 1989, and General Staff Academy in 2003. He started service as a tank platoon commander and then climbed to higher command positions. He served as military commissioner of Naro-Fominsk, commanded a division, and held the post of army chief-of-staff. He has experience in commanding troops during the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.
Prior to his current appointment, Khrulev was deputy commander of the North Caucasus military district.
