Ukrainian paratroopers to conduct over 1,000 parachute jumps on Thursday

KYIV. April 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian paratroopers will carry out in excess of 1,000 parachute jumps on Thursday, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"Ukrainian airborne troops will carry out a total of over 1,000 parachute jumps on Thursday within the framework of scheduled combat training," a press-service official said.

He noted that the 300 jumps from an Mi-8 helicopter would be carried out by the 95th Independent Airmobile Brigade of the 8th Army Corps, deployed in the Zhytomyr region. Over 300 jumps will be conducted by the 25th Independent Dnipropetrovsk Airborne Brigade of the Southern Operational Command. Another 120 jumps will be conducted by the 80th Independent Airmobile Regiment of the Western Operational Command, 150 jumps by the 7th Army Aviation Regiment of the Western Operational Command, and 150 jumps by marines from Ukrainian Navy's special forces units.

The press-service pointed out that under the combat training plan Ukrainian Airborne Forces are to carry out in excess of 34,000 parachute jumps this year.
