Russian Navy chief visiting defense industry enterprises in Kazan

KAZAN. May 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir Masorin and a group of Navy Staff admirals and officers arrived in Kazan on Tuesday, Masorin's aide Captain 1st Rank Igor Dygalo told Interfax-Military News Agency.

During his two-day stay in the capital of Tatarstan, Masorin will visit local defense industry enterprises manufacturing products for the Navy, including the Zelenodolsk shipyard, Gorbunov aircraft production association (KAPO), and Kazan helicopter plant, Dygalo said.

Masorin will meet with Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiyev on Wednesday to discuss further cooperation between the republic and Russian Navy as far as construction of ships at local defense industry enterprises and the republic's patronage over Navy ships are concerned.

The parties are expected to sign a joint protocol on intentions on Wednesday to sum up results of talks and meetings, Dygalo said.

The Navy commander-in-chief will return to Moscow on Wednesday afternoon.
