11 special planes to ensure clear skies over Moscow on Victory Day

MOSCOW. May 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Seven planes of the Russian Air Force and four planes of the Gromov federal state-owned unitary enterprise will clear skies over Moscow on May 9, Army General Vladimir Mikhailov, Russian Air Force commander-in-chief, said on Thursday.

"The planes fitted with special equipment for getting rid of the clouds will make sorties from the Chkalovsky and Ramenskoye airfields with the mission to ensure clear skies over Moscow from 6:00 a.m. to midnight," Mikhailov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

In order to accomplish the mission, the Air Force and the Russian Hydro-meteorological Service's Atmospheric Technologies Agency selected the best crews that have experience in such flights. The Moscow city government pays for ensuring good weather in the Russian capital on Victory Day, Mikhailov said.
