MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Interior chiefs from the European Union, Russia and the United States, meeting for a two-day conference in Vienna on Thursday, agreed to give more attention to the Internet as part of anti-crime efforts, Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev told Russia's Channel One television on Thursday.
"The Internet provides opportunities for posting information that enables criminal groups to stage actions in any part of the globe. Therefore, we agreed to step up efforts to focus the attention of the European Union, Russia and the United States on up-to-date telecom technologies," he said.
The main subject of the conference is internal security and cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
The Russian delegation is being led by Nurgaliyev and presidential aide Viktor Ivanov.
