Volunteer killed, four policemen injured in traffic accidents in Chechnya

MOSCOW. May 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Four policemen have been injured in traffic accidents in Chechnya, and an Interior Ministry Forces serviceman was killed when his APC turned over, Chechen law-enforcement agencies told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

"A BTR-80 APC from an Interior Ministry Forces unit went out of control, turned over, and crashed into an abyss near the village of Engenoi in the Nozhai-Yurt district at 6.20 p.m. Moscow time (1420 hours GMT) on Wednesday," an official said. The driver was killed in the crash.

Another traffic accident took place near the village of Mesker-Yurt in the Shali district at 11.40 a.m. Moscow time (0740 hours GMT) on Wednesday. A policeman, driving his personal car, collided with a police vehicle. As a result, four policemen were taken to hospital, the official said.
