Abkhazia to scale up mobilization readiness

MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax-AVN) - All high-ranking commanding officers of the self-proclaimed Abkhaz Republic will take part in a special mobilization training session in early June, Lieutenant General Anatoly Zaitsev, Abkhaz first deputy defense minister and Armed Forces chief-of-staff, said on Wednesday.

"The methodical mobilization training session will be held in the Abkhaz Armed Forces from June 5 to 9," Zaitsev told Interfax-Military News Agency by phone from Sukhumi.

The session will involve over 100 high-ranking officers of the Abkhaz army, including deputy defense ministers and chiefs of the Defense Ministry's departments, he said.

Mobilization readiness and territorial defense issues will highlight the session's agenda, he noted.

"At the end of the session, on June 9, we will sum up results of the winter instruction period that has just ended," Zaitsev said.
