KYIV. June 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Plans for international military exercises in Ukraine will be put into practice only if the Ukrainian parliament approves them, the Foreign Ministry said in a release on Wednesday.

Six such exercises are planned for 2006 - the Tight Knot 2006 Ukrainian-British exercise, the Combined Effort 2006, the Ukrainian-U.S. transport aircraft exercise, the South 2006 Ukrainian-Moldovan exercise, a Ukrainian-Slovak motorized infantry exercise, the Sea Breeze 2006 multinational exercise, and the Cossack Steppe 2006 Ukrainian-Polish-British exercise.

Wednesday's release from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said the exercises "will help increase the battle readiness of the Ukrainian armed forces and help make them compatible with the armed forces of NATO member countries."
