SUKHUMI. June 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The Abkhaz leadership has not found anything in Georgia's settlement proposals that could narrow the difference in the opposing sides' positions, Abkhaz Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba said at a Thursday news conference.
The Georgian settlement plan was considered at a special session of the Abkhaz Security Council, Shamba said.
"The term road map is an economic term, which suggests the resolution of problems stage by stage. We have not found anything of the kind in the Georgian proposals. There is not a single provision in them that could be acceptable to Abkhazia," he said.
"Abkhazia's proposals, entitled 'Key to the Future', should become the basis of the peace process," he said.
Georgian presidential advisor for conflict settlement Irakli Alasania passed Georgia's proposals on settling the conflict to Shamba in Sukhumi on May 24.
Abkhazia passed its plan for settling the conflict developed via its president, Sergei Bagapsh, to Georgia at a Coordinating Council meeting in Tbilisi on May 15.
