MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow was doing everything possible to establish contacts with the Iraqi authorities and the international coalition in an effort to find the bodies of the killed Russian diplomats and have them repatriated to Russia, as well as bring the murderers to justice.
"All our efforts have been focused on assisting the work of those who control the situation or are trying to control it - little suggests Iraq is under any control. This work aims to get the bodies of our colleagues repatriated and to allow the relatives to bury them, and to find and bring to justice the criminals who committed this repulsive crime," the foreign minister told journalists on Tuesday.
The Foreign Ministry released a statement on Monday confirming that the Russian diplomats abducted in Iraq had been executed.
"It is an outrageous and cowardly action staged by terrorists who cannot be either justified or pardoned, and who have neither faith nor conscience. They have no future, I am sure," said Lavrov.
